Chef Andrew puts the flavor in Backwater Bill’s

The atmosphere alone makes Backwater Bill’s the place to be. It’s the kind of restaurant you never want to leave. With a rustic, fishing lodge vibe and beckoning lake views through every window, Backwater Bill’s possesses an inviting Lowcountry charm that is without peer. The fact that the cuisine is as superb as it is varied makes it truly special. The latter is the result of the culinary talents of Chef Andrew Ferrel who has delighted the taste buds of Hampton Lake residents and friends for more than three years now. As homeowner Jason Cotter says “Backwater Bill’s is a great asset to the community. It’s wonderful to have such a quality restaurant available to us right inside our neighborhood. I have never had a bad meal there.”

The art of fresh cuisine

Whether it’s the fresh catch of the day…the Ahi Tuna Tacos…or Bill’s Apple Harvest Salad (that tastes more fresh and flavorful than any you’ve had before) Chef Andrew aims to satisfy.

“I love the feeling of creating art with food; sourcing fresh ingredients and turning them into a pleasurable experience for my patrons.”
— Chef Andrew Ferrel

Backwater Bill's Chef at Hampton Lake

Growing up in South Florida, raised by parents who were both in the Food and Beverage industry, Andrew was already learning the basics of cooking before the age of ten. By the time he was sixteen, he was taking his first steps in beginning a longtime culinary career. “It was a calling—I knew early on I wanted to be a chef.” Andrew honed his skills at a number of fine chefs at various Lowcountry resorts and clubs, including Callawassie, Berkley Hall, and Hampton Hall, among others. Thankfully, for us, he has chosen to practice his craft at Backwater Bill’s, which allows Chef Andrew to pursue his passion for a steady, and admiring, lot of homeowners at Hampton Lake. “I’m happy to be here at Hampton Lake and I look forward to being able to continue sharing my passion for the culinary arts.”

Hampton Lake Ranked Best Community in South Carolina!

We are proud to announce that Hampton Lake was awarded Best Community in South Carolina!

Bluffton South Carolina is synonymous with ‘best places to live in the south’. It’s also one of the fastest growing (and safest cities) in the Carolinas and is located just west of Hilton Head Island. Bluffton continues to intrigue us by its seaside personality and authentic southern charm. There are dozens of high quality master planned communities in the area but after driving through Hampton Lake last month, it sealed the award as it reminds us of their vision accomplished.

Traveling from Music City to the Lowcountry just got easier!

If you enjoy listening to country music and wearing cowboy boots, a recently announced nonstop service from Savannah may be just what you’re looking for.

Beginning in June, Allegiant Air will offer nonstop flights from Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport to Nashville.

The Las-Vegas based airline will offer the seasonal service twice weekly, on Mondays and Fridays, starting June 8. Select one-way flights purchased before March 8 will cost $45.

“We applaud Allegiant’s decision to include Savannah/Hilton Head as one of the first airports for its new Nashville service,” Stephen Green, chairman of Savannah Airport Commission, said in the news release. “The residents of our region can now enjoy convenient, affordable and quick access to one of the great entertainment destinations in the U.S. At the same time, it will provide direct access to the Savannah/Hilton Head region to the entire Nashville metropolitan area with over 1.7 million residents. This is a big win for our region.”

So far this year, the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport has added three new routes.

In February, low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines announced it would start offering seasonal nonstop flights from Savannah to Denver and Philadelphia.

Make Bluffton Your Permanent Vacation

“What if you could choose to live where it feels like you are on vacation. Where life is as simple as walking out of your house, down to your dock and slipping in your kayak for an hour of exercise and enjoyment. Or, what about grabbing your binoculars and walking through the nature preserve in your neighborhood for birding before breakfast.

If you’re a fitness enthusiast, imagine walking to your community’s fitness center for a morning yoga class with neighbors or taking a break from work at noon for a bike ride on the picturesque trails that are literally right out your front door. And, if you have the luxury of time, picture taking an entire morning with neighbors on your block for a round of championship golf followed by a leisurely lunch or an afternoon mountain hike followed by cocktails and grilling out with friends at the neighborhood pavilion.”

“Our master-planned community in South Carolina is only minutes away from Hilton Head Island, steeped in Low Country casual-chic resort-style living. Anchored by a 165-acre man-made freshwater lake for your boating and fishing pleasure, the community is a masterful merger of natural and developed amenities. The property includes 11 miles of trails, a Nature Center designed by area naturalist  Todd Ballantine, a dog park, a boat house and a 340-acre Nature Preserve. And not one, but two pools.

The Adventure Lagoon is a family-friendly resort-style pool with a “lazy river,” while the “Cool Pool” is adults-only and features private shaded cabanas. Water fun also includes Shrimp’s Puddle for the kiddies and a lake front beach with fire pits. The Lakehouse Amenity Village provides gathering spaces, dining and more. There is a state-of-the-art fitness center and a spa that includes the latest in massage therapy. And while fairways were replaced by blue ways on Hampton Lake proper, you won’t be “jonesing” for golf. Hampton Hall and its Pete Dye signature 18-hole course is directly adjacent to Hampton Lake – so this is an affordable golf option along with many other Bluffton and Hilton Head Island golf courses.”
